Investing In Health

The clinic before any work started

A new building costing £900,000 is planned for the site. The clinic is part of the NHS Trust and was considered to have outlived its useful life.
The new building will bring together more services under the one roof including children's clinics, and social work care teams. The building will also be used by the Zodiac Advice Group, a group for young people and Phoenix local health project.

Work was well under way in 2002 constructing a new clinic at Dubbs Road. This build replaces the old flat roofed building that was built in the late 60's

BEFORE WORK STARTED

Nearly gone.....The old clinic
Temporary accomidation in place

The public toilets that are also in this area have to be knocked down as they were badly vandalised and costing too much to maintain.

DEMOLITION & CLEARING THE SITE

All gone! the site today

The services remained open for use within a tempory building at the site. With the recently refurbished Community Centre and the modern building in the form of Dubbs Place Medical Centre the area is beging to look modern and attractive. The clearance of the public toilets will open up the view towards the Clyde and can only improve the whole area.

Work continues and nears completion in these photographs taken in April 2002

The work is complete and all services are now working out of the new building. The car park has been resurfaced and the temporary buildings are long gone. Work will continue in this area as the toilets have to be demolished. Building work started late 2002 on the old peoples accomidation which is situated where the Clunebrae hotel once stood.
Pictures of this development can be seen here.
