The new Tesco store opened in the town on Monday 25th June 2007. Many of the works on the surrounding are were also complete for this date. Work is still continuing on a new car park area beside the library as the top floor of this building will be used for office space while the other shops around town are renovated and given new shop fronts..

The seating area in has been cleaned up and new benches added along with new flower beds. This area now leads you down towards the crossing which has been made much wider to accommodate larger numbers of people crossing.
