The picture shows a view between Chapelton St. and Houston Street. Just West of "The Glen". The
ship in the left background is in Kingston Yard and the building across the
street housed Morrison's Pub, just to the right of the picture. The large gable end showing, was a store for the Glen Mill which was right opposite
"The Glen". The Glen Mill drew some of the water they used for the Bleaching Dept.from the Glen Burn.

After posting this picture I was informed that I had the details for it wrong! (silly me).
So thanks to Trish for pointing it out to me first and to another visitor for filling in a few blanks as I had no details to go with this particular photograph.

Building "The Gold Star"

The ship being built is the Gold Star which was built for Korean owners by Lithgow's.

Demolishing the Goliath crane on the former Scott Lithgow site in 1997. Many locla people turned out to see her brought down but the 225-ton  crane had other ideas and the first attempt failed and it had to be all done again before she finally fell.
